New Guns and Optics of 2026: What Manufacturers Actually Changed
Every January the industry empties its notebooks at SHOT Show, and the rest of the year fills in with quieter launches. Most of it is a new color or a new package of an existing model. This roundup sticks to 2026 releases where the maker changed something real: a new platform, a new operating system, a new housing or a new power source. Details come from manufacturer pages and trade press coverage. Specifications can change between announcement and shipping, and nothing here is a claim that we have any of these models in stock. Our shop lists what is actually available, and new arrivals appear on the homepage with the date they were added.
AR-pattern rifles
Ruger Harrier
Ruger reworked its modern sporting rifle line into the Harrier, built at the Kentucky plant the company acquired from Anderson Manufacturing. The rifles use a 16.1-inch nitrided barrel with a 1:8 twist and 1/2-28 threads, a free-floated 15-inch M-LOK handguard and a nitrided bolt carrier group with a staked gas key. One model runs a mid-length gas system with a Magpul grip and an adjustable stock, the other a carbine-length system with A2 furniture. Chambering is 5.56 NATO with a 30-round magazine.
IWI US ARAD 5
IWI brought its ARAD rifle to the United States in April 2026, now produced in Tennessee. It is a short-stroke gas piston design with a two-position gas regulator for suppressed and unsuppressed use, a semi-monolithic upper receiver using the company's CamLok barrel attachment, M-LOK slots at three, six and nine o'clock and a telescoping adjustable stock. It ships in 5.56x45 NATO with a 16-inch barrel and a 30-round magazine.
Primary Weapons Systems MK216 MOD 2-M
The interesting part of this AR-10 sized rifle is at the muzzle: a patent-pending expansion chamber that draws propellant gas forward to cut back-pressure when a suppressor is mounted. It pairs that with a long-stroke piston and a three-position adjustable gas block, and lands at roughly 8.8 pounds. The rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester with a 16.1-inch barrel and a 20-round magazine.
Smith & Wesson M&P15 AXE Pistol
Announced in July 2026, this is the first Smith & Wesson long-gun platform chambered in .300 Blackout and the first to use the Gemtech GVAC gas system designed for suppressed shooting. It has an 8-inch 5R Armornite barrel with a 1:7.5 twist and 5/8x24 threads, a seven-inch Midwest Industries M-LOK handguard, an ambidextrous charging handle and a Magpul brace. It takes standard 30-round magazines. SIG Sauer SIG516 G3
SIG revived its short-stroke piston AR for the 2026 model year. The G3 version adds fully ambidextrous controls, a non-reciprocating charging handle that can be worked from the rear or the side, an adjustable gas valve, the company's two-stage Matchlite trigger and a free-floating M-LOK rail. It is chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 16-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, 1:7 twist, and a 30-round magazine.
Duty and carry pistols
Glock Gen6: G17, G19 and G45
The sixth generation reached dealers in January 2026 and is the most visible change to the pistols in years. The frame gains an integrated palm swell, an extended thumb rest, a larger beavertail, an undercut trigger guard and a flared magazine well. The trigger face is now flat, and the slide serrations are deeper and steeper at the front. The optics system was redesigned and ships with three mounting plates that cover most common duty red dots. All three are 9mm: the G19 has a four-inch barrel and 15-round magazines, the G17 and G45 hold 17.
Springfield Armory Echelon Alpha 4.0C
Springfield added a lower-cost compact to the Echelon line. The Alpha uses a direct-mount optics cut rather than the adapter system of the standard model, a Melonite-finished slide and a four-inch cold hammer-forged barrel. It is a 9mm holding 15 rounds in the magazine.
Taurus TX9
The TX9 is Taurus's first purpose-built duty-class striker-fired pistol rather than a development of an older design. It uses a serialized fire control chassis inside modular frames in full-size, compact and subcompact, four interchangeable backstraps, a falling-block sear trigger and an optics-ready slide. The compact is a 9mm with a four-inch barrel, 15-round magazine and a listed weight of 23.7 ounces.
Canik Mete MC9 Prime Radian
This is the first production handgun to ship with Radian Weapons' threadless compensator system, which uses a factory barrel and a compensator that sits nearly flush with the frame instead of hanging off a threaded muzzle. It also carries Radian's backstrap and magwell and an optics-ready slide. Chambering is 9mm with a 3.83-inch barrel and 17-round magazine.
Stoeger STR-9 Thinline+
Stoeger's slim carry pistol takes a one-inch-wide slide with less reciprocating mass, a ported barrel, a lower bore axis and an enlarged magazine well. Tritium night sights are standard and the slide is cut for the common micro red dot footprint without an adapter plate. It is a 9mm with a 3.29-inch barrel, and it ships with three magazines in 14- and 19-round capacities.
Optics
Holosun 507C-X3 and 407C-X3
Holosun reworked the core of its widely used pistol optics rather than just restyling them. The X3 versions get a revised 7075-T6 housing, a new lens presentation and a forward-facing light sensor that meters light at the target instead of at the shooter, which should help when you are in shade aiming into sun. Both are rated IP67 and to 5,000G. The 507C-X3 keeps the multi-reticle system with a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle or both, runs a side-loading CR1632 battery for up to 50,000 hours and uses the RMR footprint.
EOTech HWS EXPS3 HD
EOTech's 2026 holographic sight drops the hood for a machined aluminum housing that opens up the field of view. It has a rotary dial with seven daylight and four night vision settings, automatic brightness, programmable shake-awake and an integrated quick-detach mount. The reticle is the familiar 68 MOA ring with a 1 MOA dot, it runs on a single CR123 battery and weighs 11.2 ounces.
Vortex Strike Eagle 1-10x24 FFP
Vortex added a ten-power first focal plane model to the Strike Eagle line, which puts a wide-range LPVO in reach of buyers who do not want to pay for a top-tier scope. It uses a 30 mm tube, a 24 mm objective and the EBR-8 reticle in MOA or MRAD, with eleven illumination settings, motion-activated illumination with a ten-minute shutoff, a CR2032 battery, capped turrets and a removable throw lever. Weapon lights
SureFire XC3 Sub
SureFire built a dual-fuel light for subcompact pistols. On the included rechargeable cell it produces 1,000 lumens and 13,000 candela; on a standard 123A primary battery it drops to 550 lumens and 7,200 candela, which means you can keep it running on batteries from any hardware store. It throws about 228 meters, weighs 2.65 ounces, is 2.6 inches long, carries an IPX7 rating and has ambidextrous activation paddles. It fits slim carry pistols such as the Glock 43X and 48, the Springfield Hellcat and the SIG P365.
Streamlight TLR-3X and ProTac Rail Mount VIR Pro
Streamlight marked the twentieth anniversary of the TLR line with the TLR-3X, a compact polymer-body pistol light offered with three mounting options covering Picatinny rails, Glock slim frames and the P365, running either a CR123 cell or a rechargeable battery. The company also shipped the ProTac Rail Mount VIR Pro for long guns, which pairs white output up to 1,100 lumens and 40,000 candela with an infrared mode for use with night vision.
How to read a new-release list
A few habits keep you from buying disappointment:
- Wait for shipping guns. Announcement specifications sometimes change before production.
- Check the ecosystem. A new pistol needs holsters, magazines and optic plates before it is practical to carry.
- Match the optic footprint. A new red dot is only useful if your slide or mount takes it.
- Read the fine print on suppressor-ready features. Many 2026 rifles are built around suppressed use, which involves separate federal paperwork we do not handle.
